About VACE
The Virginia Association of Correctional Educators is solely dedicated to improving correctional education in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
In addition to representing and servicing the interest and concerns of all of its members, VACE is committed to keeping all members informed on current issues in correctional education and in many other areas that affect the members professionally.
The VACE goal is to remain a vital link for all that are interested in the field of correctional education.
VACE IDOL 2008
This year's contest and dance has a theme that revolves around the 70's with a mixture of today's sounds. Participants are ask to perform musical selections from this decade. Participants may sing with or without music. Participants may play their own instrument or bring a karaoke CD. There will be a mandatory rehearsal Wednesday evening August 20, 2008. If special accommodations are needed please let them be known at that time. Participates will have a maximum time of (3) three minutes per performance. This year it will be strictly a singing competition. The rules will be explained during the rehearsal. Rehearsal participation is mandatory.
"70's DRESS IS ENCOURAGED"
The dance contest will consist of music from the 70's and will be chosen at the time of the contest. Participants will be selected onsite.
There will also be Karaoke performances, so signup if you want to sing, but not in the contest.

The annual Virginia Association of Correctional Educators conference (VACE) will be held August 20 – 22, 2008 at the Point Plaza Suites and Conference Hotel in Newport News, Virginia.
The point Plaza Suites is located in the heart of the business district-City Center at Oyster Point-and convenient to many of the Virginia’s local attractions.
A variety of workshops with something for everyone (from office staff to administrators, county to federal level, institutions juvenile and adult programs). There will also be evening entertainment (movie, dancing, a 70’s old school dance contest and a VACE Idol contest with prizes. There will be a silent auction with proceeds donated to charity.
Start making plans now to attend. More information will be added to our web sit as it becomes available. We are excited about the conference this year because it promises to be among the best yet.
