The Virginia Association of Correctional Educators (VACE) is affiliated with the Virginia Department of Correctional Education. A majority of the members work for the Department of Correctional Education as teachers, administrators, librarians, transition specialist, procurement, human resources, support staff and counselors. There are members from the Department of Corrections and local jails.
VACE provides support to its members in all of the state adult and juvenile prisons in Virginia. Our mission is solely dedicated to improving correctional education in the Commonwealth. In addition to representing and serving the interests and concerns of all of its members, VACE is committed to keeping its members informed on current issues in correctional education and in many other areas that affect the members professionally. Our goal is to remain a vital link for all who are interested in the field of correctional education.
VACE has an annual conference in August where members come together from across the state to network and exchange ideas with others in the field of correctional education. The conference provides training and information on best practices in the field of correctional education that includes the latest research through workshops and keynote speakers who are experts in the field.
